Scoreless at break in Four Nations
Half-time: Wales 0 Ireland 0
It's all-square at a very sunny Harlaw Park, Inverurie, in a fairly scrappy encounter between Wales and Ireland which has seen few clear-cut chances at either end.
Eamon Zayed spurned a good chance after 10 minutes when Wales right-back Matt Coupe failed to deal with Gallagher's long clearance, but the Bray man was unable to control the ball when it fell to him on the 18-yard line.
Ireland had a let-off after 17 minutes when the lively Ben Davies' ball from the right of the box somehow managed to evade the Welsh attack and roll across the face of the goal to safety.
Ireland came close on 24 minutes when Alan Byrne and Alan McDermott rose highest to Hugh Davey's right-sided corner. Byrne headed over from six yards.
John Lester was booked for a foul on Ryan Green after 33 minutes.
Willie Doyle shot well-wide from a low John Lester corner from the right on 37 minutes. Wales won a corner from the kick-out but Darren Murphy headed Ben Davies' inswinger away to safety.
Two minutes before the break, Zayed latched onto Paul O'Reilly's through-ball but his first touch let him down and Wales right full-back Damon Searle shepherded the ball out of play.
Alan McDermott saw a long-range effort go wide just before the whistle.
