Camara pictures move away from Wolves

Wolves have rejected a written transfer request from Senegal striker Henri Camara.

Wolves have rejected a written transfer request from Senegal striker Henri Camara.

Camara, who scored seven goals in 30 Premiership appearances this season, is desperate to continue playing in the top-flight after Wolves’ relegation to Division One, despite insisting he is otherwise happy at Molineux.

But chief executive Jez Moxey made it clear the ambitious 27-year-old is not for sale.

He said: “Henri’s agent, Willie McKay has been trying to find a Premier League club for him against our wishes. Willie and Henri’s uncle came to see me and Dave (Jones) the other day and explained what they wanted for Henri.

“We explained our position and reiterated our determination to keep Henri and the nucleus of the team together for next season when we hope to regain our Premier League status.

“Following that meeting we received Henri’s letter which we immediately rejected.”

But Camara remains adamant he wants to leave the club he joined last summer.

He told the club’s official website, www.wolves.premiumtv.co.uk: “If I said to you that I wanted to leave Wolves I’d be lying. My heart is here, I love playing here, but I came over here to play in the Premiership.

“It’s not about money, just wanting to play in the Premiership. If Wolves had stayed up and Manchester United had come in for me, I wouldn’t even have looked at it.

“But I am desperate to be African player of the Year and I don’t think I’m a First Division player.”
