Stan on verge of new deal
Celtic defender Stanislav Varga is set to sign a new deal with the Parkhead club, according to his agent.
The former Sunderland man was originally brought to Glasgow from Sunderland on a short-term deal but has proved to be another astute acquisition by Hoops’ manager Martin O’Neill.
Now, the player’s representative Tony McGill believes a new contract is imminent.
He told the Scottish Daily Star: “I’ve been in talks with Celtic in recent weeks and Stan should sign the new contract before the cup final.
“I’ve had several enquiries from clubs asking me about Stan on the back of his form for Celtic this season, but he has always said he wanted to stay at Celtic and the club has been great for him.
“Martin took a gamble by bringing him here in the first place but it has worked well for both parties.”
