David Beckham lined up for an England XI tonight at Highbury as he took part in Martin Keown’s testimonial just 24 hours after his red card for Real Madrid.

The England captain, who was sent off in Real’s defeat to Murcia, was part of a high-profile side featuring John Terry, Jermain Defoe and Andy Cole, as well as Ray Parlour.

Keown, meanwhile, was alongside Sol Campbell at the back for an Arsenal XI, with Lee Dixon and Ian Wright – who also made the bench for the England XI along with his son, Shaun Wright-Phillips – also included.

Marc Overmars returned to take part in the game as Keown bade farewell to Highbury for the last time at the end of his contract, while Paul Gascoigne was due to make a cameo appearance.
