Southgate to miss rest of season

Gareth Southgate’s hopes of making the England squad for Euro 2004 suffered a major blow today when he was ruled out for the rest of the Premiership season.

The 33-year-old Middlesbrough captain sustained a knee injury in training yesterday and a scan has revealed medial ligament damage.
