Arsene Wenger has placed his faith in Jose Reyes at Highbury this afternoon as his Premiership title favourites aimed to set a new record for an unbeaten start to the season at the expense of arch-rivals Manchester United.

Reyes’ introduction up front for Dennis Bergkamp was the one of only two changes from the side which secured a valuable Champions League draw at Chelsea on Wednesday,

Gael Clichy also came in at left-back to replace injury victim Ashley Cole.

Manchester United knew that anything other than victory would not only end any faint of hope retaining their championship, but also see Arsenal extend their current unbeaten streak to 30 matches.

Red Devils boss Alex Ferguson sprang something of a surprise by naming Eric Djemba-Djemba in central midfield alongside Roy Keane.

Veteran full-back Gary Neville returned from suspension as expected, but Louis Saha’s Achilles problem limited him to a place on the bench, meaning Paul Scholes partnered Ruud van Nistelrooy in the visitors’ attack.
