Thomas Hitzlsperger starred as Aston Villa swept aside woeful Wolves in a one-sided first half at Molineux.

The German blasted the visitors in front after six minutes and provided the corner from which Olof Mellberg headed home the second.

Lee Naylor’s defensive blunder allowed Juan Pablo Angel to poke home Villa’s third in the 24th minute – then Vio Ganea saw his penalty saved by Thomas Sorensen in first half injury time.
