Chelsea briefly closed the gap on leaders Arsenal with a barely deserved 2-0 victory at Bolton in the day’s early kick-off but the Gunners restored their advantage less than three hours later with a 2-0 win of their own at Blackburn.

Bolton dominated the first half but failed to score and they were made to pay with 19 minutes to go when John Terry volleyed home at the far post, with Damien Duff making the game safe for Chelsea.
