Match still on, despite bomb blast - UEFA
UEFA expect tonight’s UEFA Cup showdown between Celtic and Barcelona to go ahead as planned despite the fatal bombings in Madrid.
Over 100 people have been killed and scores injured when powerful explosions rocked several railway stations during the morning rush hour in the Spanish capital.
The Catalan club have approached UEFA about the possibility of postponing the game but as things stand, European football governing body officials are going ahead with the match.
“As it stands the match goes ahead as scheduled,” a UEFA spokesperson said.
“We’re in touch with both clubs and their representatives but at the moment we do not envisage any problems.
“We will continue to monitor the situation.”
