United would appeal against Scholes ban - Ferguson

Alex Ferguson is adamant that Manchester United will appeal if Paul Scholes is found guilty of violent behaviour towards an opponent.

The England midfielder was yesterday charged by the Football Association for his two-handed push in the face of Middlesbrough midfielder Doriva at Old Trafford on February 11.

The incident was not seen by referee Paul Durkin who was facing in the opposite direction and the FA studied video evidence before deciding to charge Scholes, who has until March 5 to respond.

Ferguson told the Daily Star: “We can appeal and we will. The referee was only five or six yards away. He said he didn’t see it. It was something and nothing really.”
