Solskjaer delighted with reserves outing
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has expressed his delight at finally ending his four-month injury nightmare.
The Norwegian forward has been restricted to just six first-team appearances for Manchester United this season after being forced to undergo knee surgery last autumn.
There had been suggestions that the 30-year-old would miss the remainder of the campaign after suffering a setback in training but those fears proved unfounded.
And last night, in front of manager Alex Ferguson, he played for an hour in United second string’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa at Altrincham, almost marking his comeback with a second minute goal.
Having spent so long on the sidelines, it seems unlikely that he will be considered for tomorrow’s trip to Everton but Ferguson may involve Solskjaer in the FA Cup tie against Manchester City on February 14.
“It’s great to be back playing again,” admitted Solskjaer.
“There was a slight setback a couple of weeks ago in training but there’s been no problem since.”
Brazilian midfielder Kleberson was given a 45 minute run-out and will probably be involved at some point at Goodison Park, while David Bellion had a good night, setting up the opening goal for another first-team hopeful Kieran Richardson.
