Agent: Boumsong move is guaranteed
Jean-Alain Boumsong's agent has "guaranteed" the French defender will be a Rangers player next season.
Boumsong signed a pre-contract agreement with the Ibrox side earlier this month and his move to Scotland in the summer seemed a foregone conclusion.
But the Auxerre player threw doubt over his Ibrox future by refusing to confirm that the deal with Rangers was complete, saying: "It's not possible for me to say if there is or isn't a deal in place with Rangers."
But his Monaco-based agent Willie McKay has reassured Rangers fans that Boumsong's move to Ibrox is not in question.
McKay said: "He has signed a pre-contract agreement with Rangers and he will be playing for Rangers next season - that is guaranteed."
McKay believes Boumsong simply wants to concentrate on playing for Auxerre while he is still contracted to the French club and likened his situation to that of Celtic youngster Liam Miller, who has signed a pre-contract agreement with Manchester United.
McKay added: "He has six months of his contract at Auxerre left and maybe he just wants to concentrate on playing for them for the time being.
"As far as the Auxerre supporters are concerned, he is still an Auxerre player at the moment.
"It's like Liam Miller at Celtic - he has signed a pre-contract agreement with Manchester United but, if anyone asked him, he would say he is a Celtic player.
"Jean-Alain wants to keep things close to his chest but he will definitely be at Rangers next season."
