Bohemians have tonight completed the signing of defender-cum-midfielder James Keddy from Premier Division rivals Shamrock Rovers, marking their first foray into the transfer market in 2004.

Bohemians have tonight completed the signing of defender-cum-midfielder James Keddy from Premier Division rivals Shamrock Rovers, marking their first foray into the transfer market in 2004.

"James is a versatile left-sided player who can play at the back or in midfield," announced Bohs boss Stephen Kenny. "He is a welcome addition to our squad."

Between the end of last season and the New Year, Bohemians had released Willie Doyle to UCD and John Lester to Drogheda.

30-year-old Keddy is a proven eircom League player having first won the league title with Derry seven years ago. He moved to Shelbourne in 1998, where he won a league and cup double in 2000.

Following a spell with Dundalk, Keddy moved to Rovers, where he has figured for the last two seasons, netting four times in the last campaign, including the opening goal in the Hoops’ surprise 2-0 win over champions Shelbourne in October.
