Gunners still biggest threat, says Neville
Chelsea’s multi-million pound investments have made them title contenders, but Manchester United defender Gary Neville still rates Arsenal as their main rivals for the Barclaycard Premiership crown.
Russian oil billionaire Roman Abramovich sanctioned a spending spree of more than £110m (€156m) following his takeover last summer.
Players of the class of Hernan Crespo, Claude Makelele, Damien Duff and former Red Devil Juan Sebastian Veron have all arrived at Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea remain slightly off the pace in third, four points behind leaders United and three adrift of the Gunners.
And despite the Blues’ 1-0 home victory over United in November, Neville still rates Arsene Wenger’s side as the danger men.
“Chelsea will be title contenders, even though they have had one or two results which have dropped them off the pace,” said Neville on MUTV.
“I think with the amount of players they have bought they cannot fail to be title challengers.”
