The family of Adina Raluca Constantin has said they are heartbroken by her loss as preparations are made to return her body to her native Romania.

Ms Constantin was found dead at her home on Church Street in Portlaoise shortly after 12.30pm last Sunday. Her husband, Eugen Constantin, has been charged with her murder.

Her family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help fund the repatriation of her remains.

On the campaign page, family member Ioan Olimpiu said: "We are heartbroken to share that we have tragically lost our beloved Adina Raluca following an act of violence. I am a member of Adina’s family and we are devastated by this unimaginable loss. During this incredibly difficult time, we are facing significant financial challenges in covering the costs of her funeral and repatriation."

She added: "We want to give Adina the dignified farewell she deserves and bring her home to rest with her loved ones."

A vigil will be held in Portlaoise Memorial Park next Friday at 6pm.

Organisers have described the event as "a time to remember, a time to unite".

They are inviting people to come together in Ms Constantin’s memory to honour her life and show support for her family, friends, and all those affected by her death.

Ms Constantin is among eight women to have lost their lives in violent circumstances in Ireland since the start of the year.
