Injury rules Bowyer out for Magpies

Lee Bowyer is out of Newcastle’s Premiership clash with Liverpool after failing to shake off a groin injury.

Frenchman Laurent Robert, who was rested for the 1-1 draw at Wolves last weekend, is likely to return and Jermaine Jenas, who has been unwell, Hugo Viana, Nolberto Solano and Darren Ambrose are included in the squad.

Andy O’Brien returns from suspension, although he faces a fight to displace either Jonathan Woodgate or Titus Bramble, while keeper Tony Caig is on standby as Steve Harper receives treatment on a back problem.
