Possible Bundesliga move for Forssell

Borussia Monchengladbach have repeated their desire to sign Mikael Forssell from Chelsea during the winter transfer window.

The Finland international is currently on loan at Birmingham City but had a successful loan stint with Monchengladbach last year and helped the once-mighty club avoid relegation with seven goals in 16 appearances.

Following the German club‘s failed attempts to sign the 22-year-old permanently in the summer, director of sport Christian Hochstatter and coach Holger Fach now hope the striker could move to Germany during the winter break.

Hochstatter has already been in touch with Forssell‘s agent, Vincenzo Morabito.

“If Mikael is available then we have to get him. We know about his class,” said Hochstatter.

Schalke 04 and Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly interested in a player whose Chelsea future looks bleak, given the influx of players since Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich bought the London club.

Any move would also have to be approved by Birmingham who would probably be reluctant to let go of a player who has already scored three Premiership goals.
