Owen thrives on responsibility

Michael Owen is relishing the goalscoring responsibility resting on his shoulders as England’s leading striker ahead of tomorrow’s Euro 2004 qualifier against Macedonia.

Owen flew into Skopje last night with the rest of the injury-hit England squad, stressing that the team would show the mental resolve to cope with an intimidating fixture with virtually no away fans in the stadium.
