Ferdinand ready to join England squad

Rio Ferdinand is expected to join up with Sven-Goran Eriksson’s England squad tomorrow even though he is still being troubled by a kidney infection.

Ferdinand missed Manchester United’s defeat at Southampton yesterday after failing to recover from the illness and Alex Ferguson said he was due to see a specialist about the problem on Wednesday.
