Rufus Brevett is to have a scan on his injured ankle after the goalless draw with Sheffield United.

He doubled up in pain after an innocuous interception and left Upton Park with his foot in plaster.

With fellow full-back Anton Ferdinand also injured, and Glen Johnson, Sebastien Schemmel, Vladimir Labant, Gary Breen and Scott Minto all leaving the club, Hammers boss Glenn Roeder is woefully short of cover.

He said: "Rufus will go for a scan. It's at the front of his foot close to his ankle but it's too early to be guessing what it is.

"The ankle joint and the surrounding ligaments will be scanned. If there is a problem it will definitely show up."
