Sullivan hat-trick sees Waterford through

Vinny Sullivan hit a hat-trick as Waterford were first through to the third round of the FAI Carlsberg Cup.

Non-league Everton had a dream start with the lead goal after just three minutes when Richie O'Shea tapped home from close range.

But Blues stormed back to level within 12 minutes when Sullivan scored from Alan Reilly's corner.

Sullivan then put Blues in the driving seat with his second of the night on 26 minutes with a stunning 25-yard shot.

Sullivan should have sealed the win three minutes into the second half, but shot wide from the penalty spot after Mark Clifford had been taken down.

But he made no mistake 13 minutes later when he did complete his hat-tick to fire home Kevin Waters' cross.
