Hoops wait for Varga news
Celtic face an anxious wait this morning to find out how serious Stanislav Varga’s injury is after he was stretchered off during last night’s friendly against Fulham.
The Slovakian defender – who penned a new two-year deal earlier this week - was left in agony just 18 minutes into the game at Loftus Road following a clash with Zesh Rehman.
Celtic manager Martin O’Neill fears ligament damage and Varga will undergo a scan this morning.
And he could now miss out on this afternoon’s flight to the United States for the two friendlies against Manchester United and Boca Juniors.
O’Neill said last night: “It’s hard to say yet but there is some swelling and our doctor, Roddy MacDonald, is very concerned.
“It’s getting sore but we’ll see how it is overnight.
“We don’t fly out until 2.30pm so we’ll see before then how it is. I’ll find out if he can go for a scan and we’ll see if he can travel or not.
“Their lad hit him straight on and Stan was a bit off-balance as well. It may well be his ligaments.”
