Shels move clear of the pack

Shelbourne 3 Drogheda United 0

Shels won't mind that they were flattered by the scoreline as they moved six points clear at the top of the table.

Shels did start well and were deservedly in front on 14 minutes.

The ball broke kindly for Stephen Geoghegan from a David Crawley throw and the striker did the rest, turning a defender inside out before shooting past Gary Rogers with the help of a deflection.

Andy Myler blew a chance to get Drogheda back into the match on 38 minutes when shooting wide from the penalty spot.

Shels laboured for much of the second half before killing off Drogheda late on.

Jim Crawford headed home Owen Heary's cross on 75 minutes before Ollie Cahill added a third with the goal of the game ten minutes from time.
