Hatters to announce new boss tomorrow

Luton will announce their new manager at 1pm tomorrow, according to designate chief executive John Gurney.

Hatters fans have been voting for their new boss via a telephone poll after being offered a shortlist of Steve Cotterill, Mike Newell and last season’s manager Joe Kinnear.

The most popular choice is expected to be Kinnear, who Gurney now claims was not dismissed when he left the club with assistant Mick Harford in May.

Gurney told Radio 5 Live: “Joe Kinnear is certainly leading the poll at this current time, but we’ll reveal the final result on Monday.

“We didn’t sack him, it was a misunderstanding, and we would be pleased if any of the three candidates wins. There are three outstanding candidates in Joe, Steve and Mike.

“The board do have one vote in this election and I’ll use that vote.”
