United watching African star, claims agent
Manchester United are monitoring Real Mallorca’s £10m (€14.4m)-rated Cameroon international Samuel Eto’o, the striker’s agent claimed today.
Alex Ferguson has cash available after England captain David Beckham finally made his £25m (€36m) move to Real Madrid.
And Eto’o’s representative Willie McKay says Ferguson’s scouts have already checked on the 22-year-old who Tottenham were pursuing last summer.
“Samuel’s got three years left on his contract but he’s desperate to come to the Premier League,” McKay said.
“I’ve put him forward to Manchester United and they’ve watched him recently. He’s scored 15 goals this year but the problem is that Mallorca want £10m (€14.4m) for him.”
Eto’o’s former club Real Madrid have a massive 50% sell-on clause in his contract but that clause expires this summer.
The nippy Cameroon frontman will be in Confederations Cup action tonight when his country face Brazil.
McKay added: “I hope the penny drops tonight for one of the big clubs in England.”
