Shamrock Rovers had a goal disallowed as they blew a chance to go second in the table.

Terry Palmer thought he had scored when he headed home a James Keddy corner on the hour, but the goal was not given due to an infringement.

Town finished strongly with Eric Lavine twice coming close.

He initially forced a good stop from Rovers keeper Barry Ryan after Alan Kirby put him through.

Ryan then again held a header from the Town striker from a Sean Dillon cross.

Rovers' Liam Kelly had the only real chance of note in a poor first half when planting a header just wide.
