Berkovic set to miss Maine Road farewell
Eyal Berkovic looks set to miss Manchester City’s farewell to Maine Road after manager Kevin Keegan revealed the extent of the Israeli midfielder’s groin injury.
The 31-year-old, who has made 27 appearances this season, missed City’s last three games and was ruled out of Israel’s Euro 2004 qualifier against Cyprus.
Berkovic sat out training this week and looks set to miss the games at Liverpool and home to Southampton – the club’s final match at Maine Road.
Keegan told the club website, www.mcfc.co.uk: “Eyal is struggling now and it is almost definite that he will not play again this season.
“He has not got a bad injury but the clock on the wall will beat him. You can probably say that his season is over, that’s what it looks like anyway.”
