Fergie fancies a late night

Alex Ferguson is ready for tonight’s Champions League test of nerve to stretch into extra-time.

Manchester United tackle holders Real Madrid at Old Trafford looking to become only the second side to overturn a two-goal first-leg deficit in the competition’s history.

Even though the visitors are without Raul, who grabbed a brace in the Bernabeu a fortnight ago, Ferguson acknowledges his team are facing a stiff test and admitted he would gladly accept an extra 30 minutes if Vicente del Bosque were to make the offer.

“I would be delighted if the game went to extra time,” said the Red Devils chief. “I would accept that right now.

“My team are in the best form of the season and I know we can score goals. The 64,000 dollar question is whether we can stop them. That is the big test.

“We sat too deep in the first game, tonight we will have to play with a bit of courage.”
