Steffen Freund has been told he has no future at Tottenham.

Freund's contract at White Hart Lane runs out at the end of the season and Glenn Hoddle has told him it will not be renewed.

Hoddle revealed his decision on Freund after unveiling the man who hopes to take his place in midfield - Japanese international Kazuyuki Toda, who has completed a loan move.

Hoddle said: "I have spoken to Steffen and explained that the club won't be offering him a new contract at the end of the season.

"I feel that the was the right thing to do with Steffen, he has done a very good job for us, but I felt it was only fair I told him now.

"I have the utmost respect for Steffen, he is a terrific lad and has improved as a player while he has been here, as well as enjoying his football."
