Tottenham striker set for Turkish delight
Sergei Rebrov’s move to Fenerbahce looks back on and the Tottenham striker has flown to Turkey to conclude the deal.
The out-of-favour frontman, an £11m (€16.59m) signing from Dynamo Kiev in June 2000, will seal the move “shortly”, according to Tottenham’s official website www.spurs.co.uk.
Rebrov’s agent Sandor Varga had claimed the player was "very upset" when it appeared the move to Fenerbahce had collapsed earlier this week
.
The Ukrainian is keen to leave Tottenham because of a lack of first-team opportunities, and hopes to start again with the Turkish outfit.
Tottenham manager Glenn Hoddle has already made it clear he feels it is time for Rebrov to leave Spurs.
"I have the utmost respect for Sergei and he has been very professional since I’ve been here,” Hoddle said earlier this month.
"I feel we have given him opportunities, but he hasn’t taken them, but I think he can play and there’s a player still in there waiting to come out.
"Sergei has proved in the past that he’s a very good player. Sometimes you have to move on and I think whatever move he makes, if it does happen, will be a good one for him because he needs to move on."
