Harps keep title hopes alive with win

Finn Harps have kept themselves in the running for the eircom League First Division title after beating Kildare County 3-0 last night.

Kevin McHugh opened the scoring after just 12 minutes, with Damian Whitehead netting the other two goals either side of half-time.

The win left Finn Harps in second place, five points behind leaders Waterford United, who could stretch their advantage with a win over Dundalk this evening.

A victory in Co Louth would leave Waterford eight points clear with two games to play, but Finn Harps will have a match in hand.

Elsewhere last night, Sligo Rovers moved to fifth place with a 1-0 victory over Kilkenny City thanks to a 77th minute strike from Paul McTiernan.
