Bakke arrested on drink-driving charge
Leeds midfielder Eirik Bakke has been arrested on a drink-driving charge.
Bakke was arrested at 3.40am at a house in the Alwoodley area of Leeds and is now currently being held at Chapeltown police station just over two miles away.
Leeds officials are at present refusing to make any comment on this latest incident to damage the club’s name.
A West Yorkshire police spokesman, however, confirmed: “A 25-year-old man was arrested in the Alwoodley area of Leeds.
“He has been charged with driving over the limit and is currently being detained at Chapeltown police station.”
Bakke was signed three-and-a-half years ago from Sogndal, with the Norwegian international back in form recently after scoring vital goals in victories over Birmingham and Scunthorpe in the Premiership and FA Cup respectively.
Fellow midfielder Seth Johnson, who has recently been linked with a transfer window move to Middlesbrough, has sustained a recurrence of his knee injury which forced him to pull out of last night’s reserve team match against West Brom.
