Liverpool join Yakin trail

Basle midfielder Hakan Yakin has revealed Liverpool have joined the fight for his services.

Celtic have already expressed an interest in the 25-year-old after he helped eliminate them from the Champions League in August.

But Yakin insists another victim of the Swiss club’s European success have made their interest known.

Yakin told the Daily Record: “I will not be leaving Basle this winter but I will make a decision on my future before our next Champions League match against Deportivo La Coruna on February 19.

“I have heard about the interest from Celtic and at the moment everything is interesting for me. Why not Celtic?

“But there are other offers, including interest from Liverpool, and I will make a final decision at the beginning of February.”
