Cole set for United showdown

Andy Cole is set to return to the Blackburn line-up for tomorrow’s Worthington Cup semi-final first leg against his former club Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Cole was rested for the holders’ win at Aston Villa at the weekend but has been named in Graeme Souness’ squad along with David Thompson, who also missed the 4-1 victory at Villa Park.

Damien Duff and Craig Short are both missing with hamstring injuries and Souness is currently in talks with Monaco defender Philippe Leonard over a possible loan move.

The Belgian international has been out of favour for the majority of the French season and even if he does agree to join the Ewood Park outfit, would not be in contention for tomorrow’s game.
