Boro boss predicts wide-open title race
Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren watched his side blow the Premiership title race wide open with a 3-1 victory over Manchester United and then admitted any one of five teams could win it.
Arsenal’s victory at West Brom, coupled with draws for Chelsea, Everton and Liverpool and defeats for United and Newcastle, left the Gunners four points clear at the top and just six points separating second and seventh.
And while Boro may currently sit just outside that developing battle, having come up against the top three in their last three outings, McClaren is well placed to judge the current state of play.
However, the former Old Trafford number two insists that there is too much football still to be played to make a meaningful call.
“What you’re going to see over the next few months is a lot more twists and turns,” he said.
“Anybody who can consistently get a run going, will be in with a chance.”
