Peter Hutton scored one of the fastest goals in League of Ireland history, but it couldn't arrest Derry's poor run.

Hutton collected Liam Coyle's pass following the kick-off to shoot past Tony O'Dowd with just seven seconds on the clock.

But Rovers powered back to win with some ease at the finish and get their hopes of Europe back on course.

Noel Hunt headed his tenth goal of the season to level on 39 minutes from Stephen Grant's cross.

Grant then scored the goal of the night on 65 minutes with a stunning shot from 25 yards.

Paul Caffrey added the third 13 minutes from time.
