Cork sever ties with Leicester
Cork City have severed their controversial link-up with English First Division club Leicester City.
Many fans opposed the deal, which was struck in February 2001, because it effectively turned them into a feeder club for the Foxes.
Supporters were also angry that the deal was instigated by former manager Colin Murphy, who quit the club to link up with the then Leicester boss Peter Taylor at Filbert Street.
The decision could cost Cork around €81,000 a year, but Chairman Brian Lennox is keen to keep homegrown talent at the club.
