Phillips and Flo on target for Black Cats

Kevin Phillips and Tore Andre Flo struck to send Sunderland surging out of the bottom three of the Barclaycard Premiership with a 2-0 win over Tottenham.

Phillips fluffed a chance to set Proctor free with a hopeless pass, then Stephen Carr blazed wide from a good position after more quality by Sheringham.

A run by Proctor at full pace had Tottenham’s defence terrified, but he shot too high from 20 yards before he was substituted, departing to a standing ovation.

Kevin Kilbane was not too far over with a 20-yard drive then Keller denied Phillips from a similar distance.
