League leaders Bohemians lost 2-1 to third placed Shelbourne at Dalymount Park. A penalty slotted home by David Crawley will be a major talking point as TV pictures showed that the foul by Glen Crowe on Ollie Cahill was committed outside the box.

Stephen Geoghegan made it two after sustained pressure from Bohs and Glen Crowe pulled one back on in injury time for the home side.

Elsewhere, UCD beat Drogheda 3-0 in Belfield, a Sean Finn hat trick in ten minutes in the first half.

While Shamrock Rovers beat Cork City 4-1 at Inchicore, Noel Hunt, a Trevor Molloy brace and a Stephen Grant goal for the HOOPS while Colin Patrick O'Brien got the City goal and in Division one, Athlone beat Dublin City 2-1.
