Delap in line for recall

Midfielder Rory Delap could return to the Southampton side for Wednesday’s Worthington Cup third round tie at Liverpool.

Delap was left on the bench for the 2-1 defeat at Manchester United after missing the 4-2 win over Fulham with a virus.

But the Republic of Ireland international may replace Matt Oakley at Anfield after impressing as a second half substitute against United.

Striker Marian Pahars is in contention for a place on the bench after being left out of the squad taken to Old Trafford, while England defender Wayne Bridge is still struggling with an ankle injury.
