Tigana's future unclear
Jean Tigana’s future as manager of Barclaycard Premiership Fulham remains in doubt.
The Frenchman’s contract runs out at the end of the season and he has done little to suggest that he wants to stay at Fulham, who face an uncertain future with problems continuing over the building of the club’s proposed new stadium.
Tigana, whose team followed up Thursday‘s impressive 3-0 win over Croatia Zagreb with an unlucky 1-0 defeat against Arsenal at Loftus Road yesterday, has left his future at the club in doubt after avoiding questions about his future.
“It is not about me,” insisted Tigana. “The priority is always about the club and the players.
“When I leave the club will still be here. I love the club but it is the club which is most important.”
When pressed to answer what effect his reluctance to commit himself to Fulham would have on the players, he merely said: “That is a good question, but I do not have the answer.”
Tigana’s team were playing their 22nd match of a crowded season against Arsenal and the Frenchman has admitted Fulham’s small squad was a growing concern.
“If players get injured then we have a problem,” he said before joking: “My wife is worried for me, she thinks I might have to come out of retirement.”
