England's players have been criticised for unsporting behaviour after refusing to shake hands with their Macedonian opponents.

The antics of the Macedonia side during the 2-2 draw in Southampton's St Mary's Stadium infuriated the England players.

The eastern Europeans took every opportunity to break up the flow of the game by diving and over-reacting to tackles, and at the end of the game the England players showed their disgust by refusing to shake hands.

Macedonia coach Nikola Ilievski blasted the England team for their reaction at the final whistle.

He said: "I was disappointed with the behaviour of the England team at the end - they did not shake hands.

"I am pleased with what we have achieved though with such a young team. We missed our chance to draw with Turkey last weekend and we have learned our lesson."
