Double boost for Eriksson

England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson was boosted this morning by the return of captain David Beckham and Ashley Cole to training.

The Manchester United midfielder was rested yesterday as a precaution after he left Old Trafford on Monday night holding an ice-pack to his calf following the 3-0 victory over Everton.

But he was back in full training this morning at Bisham Abbey along with Arsenal defender Cole, who also sat out yesterday’s session to enable him to recover from a hamstring ‘twinge’ sustained last Sunday during Arsenal’s win against Sunderland.

It means Eriksson has – bar Arsenal defender Sol Campbell who has been ruled out with gastroenteritis – a fully-fit squad to choose from for the opening Euro 2004 qualifier against Slovakia on Saturday.
