Rangers trial for Asatiani

Rangers are set to hand a trial to Georgia international Malkhaz Asatiani.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been recommended by Rangers striker Shota Arveladze, who is currently with the Georgia squad for a Euro 2004 qualifier with Russia.

Asatiani is currently with Georgian champions Torpedo Kutaisi and has now been promised a taste of the big time in Scotland.

Manager Alex McLeish told Rangers News: “Shota has recommended the lad and asked us to have a look at him in training.

“He’ll come over next week and we will do just that.”
