Abuse of Henry likely to be investigated by Uefa

Uefa are set to launch an investigation into the racial abuse and missiles directed at Thierry Henry during Arsenal's Champions League victory at PSV Eindhoven.

The Arsenal striker was subjected to appalling treatment on at least two occasions during the Gunners' 4-0 win in the Philips Stadion.

At worst, Uefa could bar PSV from hosting further Champions League games at their home ground, although a fine is a more likely punishment.

Arsene Wenger told BBC Radio Five Live: "That sort of behaviour is terrible and it should be banned. I think that Uefa will react.

"We did not feel under threat but there are always some crazy people in every crowd. It's up to Uefa to react and we have full confidence in them to do that."

Referee Lubos Michel was seen to pick up various objects thrown onto the pitch during the second-half and he is therefore likely to include the incidents in his official match report.

Uefa will no doubt wait to receive that report, as well as the views of their official delegate at the game, Italian Pierino Lardi, before asking PSV and Arsenal for their comments.

Henry revealed: "They were throwing coins, lighters and other stuff. I don't know whether you heard what they were saying or saw what they were doing.

"I don't want to talk about it as I just want to talk about football, but it's a bit of a shame.

"Obviously I have two ears but you didn't see me shout back. The referee was doing his business and I was just waiting to take the corner-kicks.

"If Uefa do their business, they will do their business. But we don't want to forget that our team have done a great performance."
