Arsenal striker Thierry Henry claims he was subjected to racist abuse and missiles as Arsenal’s victorious start to their away Champions League campaign was soured in Holland tonight.

PSV Eindhoven are now likely to face an investigation by UEFA following the incidents, which occurred during the Gunners’ 4-0 win in the Philips Stadion.

Henry was allegedly subjected to racial taunts while he prepared to take corner-kicks during the second half.

Referee Lubos Michel was seen collecting various missiles, understood to include coins and lighters, which were apparently hurled towards the Arsenal striker.

Henry, who rounded off the victory with two goals in the last nine minutes of the contest, explained: “They were throwing coins, lighters and other stuff.

“I don’t know if you heard what they were saying or saw what they were doing.

“I don’t want to talk about it because I just want to talk about football - but it’s a bit of a shame.

“Obviously I have two ears but you did not see me shout back.

“The referee was doing his business, I was just waiting to take the corners. If UEFA do their business, they will do their business.

“I do not want to forget that our team have done a great performance tonight.”

UEFA are already investigating allegations of racial abuse directed at Fulham players during their UEFA Cup first round tie away to Hadjuk Split last week.
