Adams believes court will settle Wise dispute

Leicester manager Micky Adams believes the First Division club’s dispute with midfielder Dennis Wise will eventually end up in court.

The club released Wise after he was involved in an incident on a pre-season tour of Finland which resulted in team-mate Callum Davidson suffering a fractured cheekbone.

The Foxes have since appealed against a Football League decision that they could not terminate Wise’s contract over the incident.

A hearing is scheduled for 10 days, but Adams insisted: “I think it will go to court.

“The door has closed for Dennis Wise at Leicester,” Adams told the Goals On Sunday programme on Sky Sports 1.

“It’s the decision of the board of directors and I back that,” said Adams of Wise’s dismissal.

Adams had warned his players on the tour that any bad behaviour would be punished by them being sent home.

Adams admitted the club had been looking to cut the wage bill, but denied it was the motivation behind Wise being shown the door.

“Dennis’ financial situation was a burden on the club, but you don’t assault your own team-mate,” said Adams.
