Finn Harps have beaten Kildare County 2-0 in the first leg of the First Division Cup final.

Jonathan Minnick opened the scoring at Station Park shortly after half-time and Neil Lloyd secured victory for the visitors with a second midway through the half.

The result leaves Kildare needing a miraculous performance in the second leg at Ballybofey next Wednesday.

Meanwhile, UEFA Cup action takes centre stage tonight, with Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers both looking to overturn deficits in the second legs of their final qualifying round ties.

Dundalk need at least five goals at Oriel Park following Varteks of Croatia’s 5-0 home win in the first leg.

Rovers, on the other hand, are 3-1 down going into their return leg against Swedish side Djurgardens.
