Hasselbaink leads Chelsea attack
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was chosen to lead Chelsea’s attack against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge tonight despite the ongoing speculation over his future.
Hasselbaink, who has been quoted in Spain as revealing his desire to talk to Barcelona if the club make a bid for him, was partnered by Gianfranco Zola with Eidur Gudjohnsen kept on the bench.
Indeed, the only change to the line-up which defeated Charlton 3-2 last weekend at The Valley was Mario Melchiot returning to replace Albert Ferrer at full-back.
Alex Ferguson also made just one change to his starting line-up, with Paul Scholes earning a recall to midfield at the expense of Juan Sebastian Veron.
Rio Ferdinand had lost his race against time to be fit for the game, with not even a place on the bench, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was again a substitute.
