Ulises set for Dutch debut

Aston Villa’s latest signing Ulises de la Cruz is set to make his debut in Sunday’s pre-season friendly away to Dutch side De Graafschaap.

Graham Taylor’s £1.5m (€2.4m) capture from Hibernian was signed too late to be eligible for the club’s Intertoto Cup campaign.

De la Cruz, who is earmarked to play in a right-sided midfield role, impressed when playing for Ecuador in the recent World Cup finals.

Villa are playing Sunday’s match as part of the deal which saw them sign goalkeeper Stefan Postma.
